About Madison Area Care for the Homeless (MACH OneHealth

The mission of Mach OneHealth is to provide and coordinate compassionate, holistic healthcare for housing insecure individuals in the Madison Area.

MACH OneHealth emerged in the fall of 2015 in meetings between Ann Catlett (internist and palliative medicine specialist at UW-Health, Homeless Services Consortium (HSC) board member), Garrett Lee (former Homeless Services Consortium (HSC) board member, social entrepreneur, community organizer), and William Gilles (DVM, director of WisCARES). William shared that people with companion animals prioritized care for their animals over their own need for medical care. With the HSC Education and Outreach Committee, Garrett conducted a transportation survey that identified healthcare to be widely inaccessible. Ann was approached by homeless agencies and volunteer outreach workers regarding the medical dilemmas of their clients. As MACH OneHealth began to coalesce as an organization, Ruthanne Chun (veterinarian and co-founder of WisCARES) joined in to help guide program development.

Our vision is to work with individuals experiencing housing insecurity to provide equitable access to housing and healthcare.
