Summary

The Arc-Dane County works to ensure that all children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families are offered the same opportunities, choices, rights, and respect due to all people in our community through example, education, advocacy, support, and legislation. We serve our members in a variety of ways, including offering a resource base for those seeking legal, health and financial services, we offer social events like our Halloween and Winter dances, we recognize those in the community who go above and beyond for individuals with I/DD at our Spring awards ceremony and our signature event, Wings for All, is an airport rehearsal program that allows individuals with I/DD to "practice" the airport experience of checking in at ticketing, going through TSA and boarding a plane. Our goal is to make sure that all individuals are as integrated as possible in their community and able to live their best lives.

Board Position

We are seeking motivated individuals with a strong desire to support the I/DD community. The board member position requires attendance at least 50% of our bi-monthly board meetings and the expectation that board members will be actively engaged and assist whenever possible with our community events, member services, and fundraising. Individuals of all skill sets and backgrounds are welcome. We are not recruiting for executive board member positions at this time (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary), however, there is potential for board members to move into those roles after completing their term.
